Estate House Redevelopment / Expansion Update
The redevelopment of Estate House is now well under way, with the bricklayers close to completing the walls of the new offices. Over the next quarter, the roof and windows will be installed, and the internal works will commence.
We are hoping to be able to move back into the new building in February 2020, but until that time the estate management will continue to be based in the temporary porta cabin office adjacent to the redevelopment site.
A further, more detailed article will be provided in the December 2019 newsletter.

LATEST REPORT FROM RENEWI
Due to the warmer weather Renewi have seen a small increase in fly numbers in the last few weeks and as a result we have received a small number of complaints. In light of this the site has increased fly management with additional fogging on site, increased housekeeping around the site boundary as well as increased knock down sprays with chemical control to reduce numbers. This will continue over the coming weeks until the fly numbers drop and there is a drop in outside temperatures.
We will continue to keep you informed of progress with any projects on site, in the meantime if you would like to contact us, you can do so on 01708 634540, or by letter to the following address: Gurjeet Kaur Assi, Business Support Manager, Renewi Services UK, Frog Island, Creek Way, Rainham, RM13 8EN.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU!!!!
As you are aware there is an estate evacuation plan in place that is reviewed, updated and tested annually by Zone. There will be a Communication Test of zone 2 on Thursday 28th November 2019, plus an “out of hours” test for businesses that operate 24/7.
You will receive an email with more detailed information in due course.
London Riverside BID mid-term consultation – Have Your Say
We are now mid-way through the third term of the London Riverside Business Improvement District. The Fairview Industrial Park benefits substantially from the services the BID provides from the levies that you and all Members pay, including enhanced security, CCTV and ANPR facilities, cleaning, maintenance and landscaping, and influencing stakeholders to constantly invest in Rainham’s industrial areas. There have been direct improvements to the Fairview Industrial Park, in particular, estate carriageway lighting a replacement scheme to upgrade to 27 LED lanterns, upgrade of security gatehouse CCTV system-expansion/integration of existing systems and the installation of safety and security features for vehicle traffic using the estate entrance/exit to ensure visibility in advance of the gatehouse area.
A mid-term consultation will commence in the next few weeks so you can provide feedback on how effectively you feel the BID is delivering value and essential services. You can complete the consultation in one of two ways, which will take you around 15 minutes:
- call the BID Team to arrange a telephone or face-to-face appointment, on 01708 550279 or email@example.com

SECURITY GATEHOUSE DEFIBRILLATOR
You will know from previous newsletters that the London Riverside BID recently installed a defibrillator on the Fairview Industrial Park for the use of all BID Members, part funded by the British Heart Foundation.
In the last 6 months it has been called out on four occasions by businesses or the emergency services; thankfully it has not been needed and all individuals concerned are well, but it is there for peace of mind.
Remember, that for a patient to have the best chance of surviving an out of hospital cardiac arrest, CPR and early defibrillation must be provided within the first 3-4 minutes of the cardiac arrest, followed by advanced life support within the first 8 minutes of the arrest.
If you ever need the defibrillator, it is located at the entrance to the Estate at the Security Gatehouse. Simply call the Security Projects team on 07528 968073. ALWAYS CALL 999 FIRST
Some BID Members have also made their defibrillators available to other BID Member, including Fairview neighbours ESS Safeforce, and CEME; you can see all the locations here
If you would like any of your staff to receive First Aid training, including use of a defibrillator, the London Riverside BID has secured favourable rates for all Members. Simply call Debbie or Linda on 01708 550279 or email email@example.com
Completion of the program to upgrade the estate video surveillance system to high definition/crime reduction
The management of the Fairview Industrial Park continue to invest in crime reduction initiatives to reduce even further the existing low crime rate experienced on the Estate.
This, coupled with the static and mobile Patrol guarding service reassures occupiers, staff and visitors that the estate management considers their security and safety their highest priority
Following the completion of the program to upgrade the Estate video surveillance system to high definition, a number of cameras have been added to provide enhanced surveillance of areas identified following a security review.
There are now 14 CCTV static/domes installed at strategic, vulnerable locations on the estate. In addition to this, there are 8 CCTV’s installed at the gatehouse that record all vehicle movements in and out of the estate.
All of the CCTV installations/upgraded video surveillance system were installed with financial match funding from the London Riverside Business Improvement District (BID)
The CCTV system is not only utilised for crime detection and anti-social behavior deterrence, but also to assist with overall management of the Estate.
The Estate CCTV system of course, operates in full compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018
